My grandfather was straight-up Mdewakanton Sioux (Isanti Dakota), but I pass easily for white. I don’t even put down my heritage in most things that ask my race because people tend to give me quizzical looks. It’s not something I even tend to think about.
But this… this pisses me off. One of the many reasons the Church of Latter-Day Saints is a crock of shit, and that anybody that believes this shit is just as batty as any other person that believes batty shit.
Mitt Romney can go suck a bag of poxy cocks. Corporations are people, my achin’ ass…
Obviously an example of someone who hasn’t read the full Book of Mormon, or probably none of it all. It STILL has this quote in it. And, if they did read the BoM, they’d know that this is discussing the Nephites…which were entirely killed off at the end of the BoM. They were wiped to extinction. And, when they call them “loathsome” and “filthy,” it refers to how they were bitter and turned toward greed due to the many wars and rumors that ravaged the land.
The Lamanites are the ones who are believed to be the ancestors of Native Americans. And, throughout the BoM, there have been righteous Lamanites and Nephites as well as ones who were not so righteous. The BoM depicts peoples of both moralities, not one is believed to be better than the other. Just like how there are good people and bad people in the world today who may belong to the same race. Just because you’re Indian, White, Black, Asian, Hispanic, or whatever doesn’t mean you fall underneath the stereotype depicted for that race. There were good Lamanites. There were good Nephites. There were bad Lamanites. There were bad Nephites.
Also, the reason Romney probably doesn’t discuss his religion is because the church and state should be separated…why should he discuss his religion? It’s his private beliefs.
Besides, South America, which has many citizens believed to be descendants of Lamanites, make up a large portion of the church.
